  • Welcome

Thank you for visiting our web site! We hope you find what you’re looking for. Troop 168, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church has been raising up leaders through Scouting since 1964. Hundreds of boys have come through our Troop and MANY went on to receive their Eagle and become upstanding leaders in our community. We teach the Scouting Values through our many activities and outtings. Lord Baden Powell called it, “Fun with a Purpose”.

We invite you to visit our Troop Meetings on Monday nights at 7:30 p.m. (Except for the Monday following a camp out). By visiting our Troop Meeting, you’ll meet our leaders and see us in action as we plan camping events and service projects. Better yet, you should join us on a camp out! Please contact our Scoutmaster, Mr. Jones, or our Committee Chairman, Mr. Cranford, if you have any questions.

    Trappers’ Rendezvous

Join us for THE 35th TRAPPERS’ RENDEZVOUS at Harvey County Park West. January 13 – 15th 2012

The tradition of the rendezvous was started by General William Ash-ley’s men of the Rocky Mountain Fur company in 1825. Mountain man James Beckworth described the festivities as a scene of “mirth, songs, dancing, shouting, trading, running, jumping, singing, racing, target shooting, and yarns, with all sorts of extravagances that mountain men, trappers, and native Americans could invent.”

Following in the tradition of the mountain men and trappers of the early 1800′s, Scouts and Scouters will gather Jan. 13-15, 2012 for The 35th Trappers’ Rendezvous. More than 4,000 are expected for a load of the same kind of grousing and winter fun! So, make plans to meet at Harvey County Park West for this annual event.

Troop 168 will, once again, be headed to Trappers’ for our January outing.  We need to know if you will be going.  Beginning at the Troop meeting on December 12th we will be taking your RSVP and $7 camping fee for the event costs.  Your last chance to pay and RSVP is December 19th.  After that if you decide you want to go the cost will be raised to $10 a person.  This is the fee charged by the event coordinators and is in addition to the normal $15 food costs.

If you want more information in Trappers’ you can download the Trappers’ Herald.
